Media

The development of the LTO Program was started in 1997 by HP, IBM and Quantum in order to oversee and develop the roadmap for the Linear Tape-Open (LTO) technology. The Ultrium format currently offers five generations of LTO Ultrium backup media from LTO Ultrium 1 data cartridges through to LTO Ultrium 5 data cartridges with another three LTO Ultrium generations planned within the LTO Ultrium roadmap.
